Full Remodel of 1895 Home
This home was originally built in 1895 and used as a single family dwelling until 1923 when it was converted to a duplex. The interior rooms were small without regard to flow or function. Multiple additions created multiple foundations and roof lines. Flooring and foundations had to be raised, leveled, and structurally reinforced. The added on roof lines were removed and original roof lines were extended or added to match the original home. The result is an attractive, well laid out home. Upon walking into the home the main floor has an open feel, yet wall placement creates distinct areas. The period lighting, beautifully crafted trim work and box beams in the living area offer a warm and cozy living area.
The hardwood unify the living and dining areas and blend well with the slate floor in the kitchen. The kitchen boasts vaulted ceilings and plenty of cabinet and countertop space for even the gourmet chef. The first floor also contains a powder room, den, laundry/mud room and an entry to the two car garage. The second floor has an open centralized hall leading to two bedrooms, a full bath, and a large master suite. The master suite has a walk-in closet. In the master bath, a granite tile walk-in shower creates a relaxing space. Thoughtfully placed closets and nooks abound on both levels. This 1895 home was not only restored to a single family dwelling, but was modernized with its origins in mind.
