Our homeowners waited for this little cottage to go on the market. After purchasing it they set about to add more room, with modern amenities all keeping with the original cottage charm. Grand plans were put into action. The roof was removed, the basement stairway was eliminated and the main staircase was reversed. The plumbing and wiring were completely updated. An energy efficient on demand gas hot water unit and high efficiency furnace were installed.
A small addition on the main floor allowed the master bath to expand. The new roof was built taller to allow for an office, full bathroom, guest room and window bench. An angled pocket door was created to fit with the roofline. On the main floor the tiles framing the fireplace and much of the hardwood flooring were preserved. The master suite, powder room, laundry room, kitchen, living room and guest room efficiently utilize the small footprint. A large, lower deck built of iron wood created an outdoor living space. Superior craftsmanship, paired with classic materials created a cottage that stayed true to its beginnings and met the desires of the satisfied homeowners.
