Historic Kitchen Remodel
The homeowner’s vision of a gourmet kitchen, while being true to the history of their 100 year home was the goal for this kitchen remodel. The kitchen could not be expanded so the layout was altered to make a more efficient use of the space. The size and shape of the island was changed to allow for installation of a 36” gas range with a remote downdraft exhaust fan. Accommodating the ductwork for the fan exhaust required floor joists to be moved. The uneven floor was an obstacle we had to overcome before the installation of the new tile floor.
Great care was taken to insure the floor was completely level. The homeowner chose cherry cabinets in a timeless style, adding custom cabinetry above the standard cabinetry, with glass doors and lightening, to increase storage space. The dark granite countertops and backsplash create a frame for the cherry cabinetry. The large island countertop is a beautiful, single piece of granite. Our craftsmanship shows in the custom trim of the cabinetry. The new gourmet kitchen flows seamless with the rest of the home’s interior.
