Basement Bathroom Remodel
A portion of an unfinished basement was utilized to create this bathroom retreat. The layout of the bathroom was well thought out to maximize the space in the basement and to give the bathroom a feeling of space. The basement walls and ceiling were furred out to allow space for plumbing, a fan, and lighting to be installed. A trench was dug in the concrete floor and a sump pump was installed to allow waste water to be pumped away. Also, the existing floor had to be leveled before work could begin because of its drastic slope. Materials were chosen to create a relaxing bathroom while maximizing space.
A pedestal sink was installed with a free standing medicine cabinet to give the small bathroom a big space feel. Our homeowner achieved a high end hotel shower by choosing large slate and smaller accent tiles. A stylish hand held shower wand and faucet was installed. A frameless glass shower surround creates a virtually invisible encasement. The large tile was also used on the floor. The bright reddish orange paint color creates a welcoming space. The cherry wood trim and door finishes the bathroom with style. The utmost care was taken to insure the result would exceed the homeowner’s vision.
