Kitchen, Bathroom, Mudroom Addition/Remodel
A new mudroom and deck were added to the back of the home to create a welcoming entrance. The deck is Trex with built in benches and a gas line run to the BBQ. The new mudroom has a custom locker built to the homeowners’ specifications. The locker has a walnut bench top and toe kick heater. Upon entering the kitchen, the closet was removed to create a prep area with a sink/faucet and easy access to the refrigerator. In the eating nook, a custom wainscot was created to mirror the new cabinetry and era of the home. The new tile flooring is heated in this area. Tile flooring was installed in the kitchen and down a small hallway. The floor had to be leveled with mortar for proper installation.
A wall that divided the kitchen from a short hallway was removed. A glu-lam beam was set into the ceiling joists to span the wider opening between the kitchen and the dining room. The newly gained floor space created room for the large island and built in hutch. The island was used to relocate the range from the exterior wall. A raised eating bar was added on the dining room side of the kitchen with pass through upper cabinets with glass doors. All upper cabinetry has under cabinet LED lighting. The red glass island pendants add task lighting without using can lights. The homeowners also chose to remodel the adjoining bathroom. The bathtub was removed and a walk in tiled shower was installed. The vanity cabinet is in the same style of the kitchen cabinets. The original bench was modified to make room for the larger vanity.
