This bathroom was the idea of a master bath in the 50’s. Our homeowners wanted to have a large shower and more space. After some rearranging and updated we gave them their wish. We demo’d to the studs, eliminating the empty chase that was built at the end of the original cast iron bathtub. This gave us the extra space we needed. The tub was removed and the sink area was moved across the bath. Insulation was added in the exterior and interior walls. All plumbing and electrical was updated. The plumbing vents were redone to code including roof boots that weren’t used before. A custom mortar pan was created to get the most space for the shower. The new tiled shower has a bench and niches. A custom vanity with a single sink and granite countertop was installed. The granite was also used to top the half wall of the shower. A custom shower enclosure finished the space. The floor was also tiled. After the tile was installed we installed a new hardwood threshold to match the existing hardwoods in the dressing area. We built in a medicine cabinet in the style of the cabinetry. Since we couldn’t move the radiator we refinished it. The only complaint we’ve had is the kids would rather shower in mom and dad’s new bathroom. The homeowners are thrilled with their new master bath.
