On Wednesdays the office staff fills three crockpots with soup for the guys in the field. (We use a mini crock for our vegetarian co worker.) We love to share a hot meal on cold days! All of our soups have to cook in four hours so we precook ingredients as needed. One of our favorites is a Sausage and Potatoes soup. Here’s the recipe. Sausage and Potatoes Soup Ingredients 3 pounds red potatoes (we precook ours) 2 pounds smoked sausage (we used kielbasa) 8 ounces softened cream cheese 10 1/2 ounces cream of celery soup 1 ounce dry ranch dressing mix We add celery, onions, carrots and some garlic […]
Poorly installed flashing or no flashing at all, is a main cause of leaks in the Pacific Northwest. Our rain is rarely straight down. When the rain blows against our homes the water can find its way in thru the smallest holes. Flashing guides the rain away and around windows, skylights, chimneys, doors and other structures tied to our homes. Water can be tricky. The leak may be coming from an upstairs window, yet the wall on the main floor shows the water. Take a look at your home. If the flashing looks as if it’s not attached, pulled away or you can’t see any where you think it […]
If you roasted one of the 51 million turkeys Americans consumed over the Thanksgiving holiday, you probably made a few side dishes too. Our ovens, stoves and hood vents could use a good cleaning. Cleaning hood vents should be a chore done annually. It’s really easy. You’ll need Borax Detergent Booster and a pair of gloves. Remove the hood vent filter. Fill your sink with hot water. Mix in a 1/4 cup of Borax. Put the dirty filters in the water and let them soak for 15 minutes. Put on the gloves before you dip your hands in the water. Drain the sink and wipe any greasy residue off the […]
Care was taken to create an addition to seamlessly fit the original home on the interior and exterior while creating a family space and master ensuite. We removed the back porch and master deck above. Staying close to the footprint we added a family room on the main floor and a master bathroom upstairs. Previously the exterior door in the upstairs master led to a porch, now it leads to a beautiful bathroom. The bathroom boasts a split double vanity with Carrera marble top, Bliss tile backsplash, water closet and heated tile floor. The tile shower has duel shower heads and a tiled bench. The new trim and doors match […]
A beautiful piece of doug fir was made into a custom bench for a master bath remodel. The doug fir slab was plained into a bench size with one live edge. The other edge was made straight to fit tight against the wall. The live edge was eased and the wood was lightly sanded. After being coated with a clear stain, the bench was installed in the master bathroom.
This bathroom was the idea of a master bath in the 50’s. Our homeowners wanted to have a large shower and more space. After some rearranging and updated we gave them their wish. We demo’d to the studs, eliminating the empty chase that was built at the end of the original cast iron bathtub. This gave us the extra space we needed. The tub was removed and the sink area was moved across the bath. Insulation was added in the exterior and interior walls. All plumbing and electrical was updated. The plumbing vents were redone to code including roof boots that weren’t used before. A custom mortar pan was created […]
Last night York Enterprises was awarded the State Remodeler of the Year! There were six other nominees from around the state. To qualify for nomination you must be a member of the Building Industry Association of Washington for three consecutive year and serve as an elected board member of your local Master Builders Association. A fellow BIAW member makes the nomination and the membership votes. Winning this award is special because it is voted on by our peers from across the state of Washington. We are honored and pleased to be recognized for our work, business ethics and support of the industry by the BIAW.
