Duke York, Owner
Founder and owner, Duke started remodeling as a second career after serving the Tacoma community as a juvenile probation officer. He started as one guy in a second-hand truck. He hired his first employee in 1998 and joined the MBA in 2000. In 2015 he won State Remodeler of the Year. Duke holds a Certified Graduate Remodeler and Certified Aging in Place Specialist designations. In his free time Duke enjoys spending time with family and relaxing on Hood Canal.
Chris Nokes, Estimating & Sales
Chris has been with York Enterprises since 2017. Before York, Chris spent many years designing custom yacht fixtures. He considers watching projects evolve from start to finish and the huge team effort it takes along the way, to be the most satisfying part of his job. His proudest accomplishment is raising his three beautiful children, two of his own and one that he and his wife adopted from Ethiopia. Chris and his family have lived in Old Town Tacoma for the last 18 years and enjoy many walks to the water front and nearby parks.
Chris Gese, Concrete Specialist
Chris has over thirty years’ experience in the concrete and construction fields. He believes honesty and integrity are important in the remodeling field. Chris changes his work boots for hockey skates in his off hours. His artistic side comes out in his concrete and metal sculptures.
Cleave Watterberg, Remodeler
Cleave has been in the construction field for over thirty years. Making old homes new again is Cleave’s motivation. He has a way of making a difficult job seem easy. Our customers appreciate his calm manner on the job. Cleave is involved with the Christian Biker Tabernacle. He leads the worship band at services.
Shane Burdick, Lead Remodeler
Shane joined the York team in 2015, freshly transplanted from California. Shane has owned his own remodeling business, specializing in insurance restoration. One of Shane’s strengths is his communication with his clients. When he’s not at work, Shane enjoys spending time with his family and watching Raiders football.
Steve Leonard, Lead Remodeler
Steve started with York Enterprises in 2017. He has been in residential construction for over 30 years. Steve began in new construction as a field manager and superintendent, then he and his wife owned and operated their own small remodeling business for almost 20 years. He has built a reputation for creating happy customers, and he brings that passion for customer service to York. In his off time, Steve enjoys camping, skiing, boating, and playing with his grandson Rory.
Tyler York, Sales
Tyler has been a part of the York team since he was a gleam in his parent’s eye. He has worked in the field during his college years in the summer. After coming home from California, he began working in the office, doing CAD drawings and writing contracts. Tyler has learned the permit process and building regulations for the remodeling industry. He is always learning about new products. In his off time Tyler enjoys spending time with his family, remodeling his home and traveling.
Julie Roland, Designer
Julie joined the York team after completing an Interior Design Internship. Working at York has given her the opportunity to grow as a designer by experiencing the remodeling industry first hand. One of her greatest achievements was returning to school to pursue a degree in Interior Design after many years of working as a bookkeeper. Getting to use her creative talents at work every day is a dream come true and one that she appreciates beyond words. Julie enjoys singing, sewing, paper crafting, Pinterest, and traveling.
Stacy McCracken, Office Manager
Stacy is the Office Manager at York. Since beginning part time in 2005, Stacy has worked in sales and the office. She keeps the office running smoothly and enjoys working with our homeowners. During the winter months, you will find her minding the office crockpots full of soup for her co-workers. In her free time Stacy enjoys spending time with her chickens, reading and traveling.
Dannette York, Office Assistant
Dannette joined the York family and office staff in 2015. She and her daughter Rylie moved up from Central California in 2013 and have been in love with the Pacific Northwest ever since. She enjoys learning about the remodeling industry and loves to do home projects of her own.
Isaac Campbell-Smith, Production Logistics Coordinator
Isaac has been in the construction business since 2017, when he joined the York team. He previously worked as an Event & Marketing Administrator in tropical Koh Samui, Thailand for the 5-Star wellness resort, Kamalaya. Isaac enjoys learning how things get built. His ability to organize projects makes him a great asset. Some of Isaac’s favorite Tacoma spots include Bob’s Java Jive, MSM Deli, and Stadium High School (though he is completely happy to not have any homework these days).
Spigot joined the York staff at the tender age of 9 weeks, in 2006. She has been working half days ever since. Spigot is the cutest receptionist in the remodeling industry. She has polished her office manners over the years. In her free time Spigot enjoys eating treats, chasing squirrels, sneaking out of the office to take a walk to the park and napping.
